Welding Robot Maintenance and Calibration

Two days on robot upkeep: torch and consumable care, wire feed problems, TCP calibration after a collision, axis backlash, greasing, and the source and cooling that feed the arc.

What You Will Be Able to Do

• Service the torch, liner, contact tip and gas nozzle on the right schedule
• Diagnose wire feed faults from the spool all the way to the arc
• Recalibrate the tool centre point after a collision or a torch change
• Check axis backlash and follow the robot's greasing schedule
• Keep the power source, cooling and earthing in the condition the arc needs

Course Outline

• Day 1 The torch, the wire and the arc6 hours
  • Torch anatomy and the service interval for every consumable
  • Liner, drive rolls, pressure setting and the faults each one causes
  • Wire feed diagnosis: birdnesting, burnback, stubbing and erratic feeding
  • Gas: flow, purity, leaks in the hose and the effect on porosity
  • Power source and cooling checks, earthing and cable condition
• Day 2 Mechanics and calibration6 hours
  • Robot greasing schedule, gearbox checks and what backlash sounds like
  • Cable package and dress-out: the most common cause of repeat downtime
  • TCP calibration by the four-point method, and verifying it
  • Recovery after a collision: mechanical check, TCP re-check, program verification
  • Building a maintenance plan and spares list for the cell

Machines and Tools You Will Train On

KAIERDA welding robots and digital sources, TCP calibration pins, torch service kits, wire feed assemblies and cooling units.

Prerequisites

Robotic Welding Programming, or equivalent cell experience.
