Fiber Laser Cutting Operator, Level 1

Three days on the machine for new operators: safe start-up, the control software, loading a job, choosing the right parameters for steel, stainless and aluminium, and the daily checks that keep cut quality stable.

What You Will Be Able to Do

• Start up and shut down the machine safely, including the chiller, the extraction and the gas supply
• Load a job, set the origin and run a first article with confidence
• Choose the right nozzle, gas and parameters for the thickness and material in front of him
• Judge a cut edge and name the cause: focus, gas pressure, speed, nozzle or lens
• Complete the daily checklist and hand the machine over to the next shift

Course Outline

• Day 1 The machine, the danger and the daily routine6 hours
  • How a fiber laser cuts: source, fiber, collimator, focus lens, nozzle, assist gas
  • Laser class 4 hazards, eye safety, interlocks and what the emergency stop really does
  • Start-up order: main power, chiller, extraction, gas, source, controller
  • Walk around the machine: bed, exchange table, rails, racks, drag chain, fume filter
  • The daily checklist and the shift handover sheet
• Day 2 The control software and the first real part6 hours
  • Bochu and Cypcut screens: what every button on the operator panel does
  • Importing a DXF, checking it for open contours and duplicated lines
  • Lead-ins, lead-outs, micro-joints and cutting order
  • Setting the origin, frame check and dry run
  • Cutting a first article and measuring it against the drawing
• Day 3 Parameters, materials and cut quality6 hours
  • Parameter tables: power, frequency, duty, speed, focus position, gas and pressure
  • Mild steel with oxygen, stainless and aluminium with nitrogen, and why the gas changes everything
  • Focus calibration and nozzle centring, done by hand on the machine
  • Reading the edge: dross, burr, striations, burning at corners, incomplete piercing
  • Ten faulty samples: find the cause and fix it on the machine

Machines and Tools You Will Train On

GWEIKE and GAMMA fiber laser cutters, Bochu and Cypcut controllers, Raytools and Bochu cutting heads, calipers, feeler gauges and nozzle centring tools.

Prerequisites

Able to read numbers and simple drawings. No computer background needed.
